How to measure for Valances

How to measure for Valances

When measuring for a valance, measure the overall length of the valance rail (A) including the returns (B).

Unless otherwise requested, we will make the drop of your valance 1/5 of the curtain drop.

For shaped valances, measure the maximum outside finished length (C) and the minimum inside finished length (D).

Unless otherwise requested, we will make the maximum drop 1/3 of the curtain drop and the centre 1/5 of the curtain drop.

How to measure for Pelmets

How to measure for Pelmets

For the highest quality finish, we supply pelmets to a precise fit.

Measure the overall length of the pelmet carefully, to include the return to the wall.

Measure both returns - they are not always identical. Supply measurements as the drawing above.

  • A. Overall width of board
  • B. Depth of right-hand return
  • C. Depth of left-hand return
  • D. Maximum depth of pelmet

Unless otherwise requested, we will make the maximum drop of your pelmet 1/5 of the curtain drop.

How to measure for Swags & tails

How to measure for Swags & tails

The height of the swags and tails vary according to the window size.

The recommended proportions are:

  • Tails: 1/3 of the finished curtain length (A)
  • Swags: 1/5 of the finished curtain length (B)

State the number of swags required and the finished depth of each tail.

For use on a corner bay or as a feature on a straight window, use short double tails (jabots) as an alternative to overlapping the swags.
